With a heart full of wonder and excitement, Noah carefully climbs onto the pelican’s broad, feathered back. As soon as he settles, the bird spreads his magnificent wings.
— Hold on tight, it’s going to be a bit bumpy, says the pelican.
Noah stretches his arms around the bird’s large neck, which he can’t even wrap his arms around. And with a powerful thrust, they soar into the evening sky.
Noah gasps as they go up, the village below shrinking quickly into a tiny dot. The wind rushes past them, carrying the salty smell of the ocean that tickles Noah’s nostrils. They fly higher and higher, past flocks of seagulls and into the vast sky. The colours of the sunset paint the horizon with shades of orange, pink, and purple, creating a breathtaking backdrop for their journey.
As it gets darker, the first stars begin to twinkle above them. Noah marvels at the sight of the night sky, now closer than ever before. The world below disappears into darkness, but above, the stars shine brightly, guiding their way.
After what feels like hours of flying, they approach a shimmering purple cloud floating in the sky. It looks like a giant candy floss, thinks Noah.
